History

Founded in 1984, CONAM Construction Company began to provide open shop construction and maintenance services to the Alaskan North Slope oil fields. Since then, CONAM has established itself as a contractor capable of accepting the difficult challenges of the arctic construction industry in Alaska. Beginning in 1985, CONAM quickly landed projects in Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay involving construction of oil and gas, and petroleum product distribution facilities. For these initial projects, staff personnel and equipment resources were drawn from its affiliate company, H. C. Price ( now PriceGregory International ). Willing to try something new, innovative and difficult, CONAM purchased unique heavy trenching equipment for reserve pit liner installation in Prudhoe Bay. This immediately provided a new market for our services.

In 1986, CONAM completed a number of difficult and high-risk lump sum projects on Endicott Island through the use of new and innovative arctic construction techniques. It soon became clear that CONAM's trademark was innovation. As a result we have become known as a contractor that would take on difficult projects that other contractors would not risk. Since then, CONAM has successfully performed some of the most difficult jobs Alaska has had to offer. See the Forest Oil - Redoubt Shoal Pipelines, and the AFSC - Crosstown Pipeline in our Featured Projects Section for two examples of this trademark.

Open Shop Construction

From its start in 1984 to the present, CONAM Construction Company has operated as an Open Shop construction contractor. In keeping with this status, CONAM is not signatory to any labor union contracts and has successfully completed work for private clients, as well as state and federal construction contracts where labor was based upon prevailing wages. Both our private and public clients recognize that effective, high quality open shop construction contractors serve as a valuable economic option for execution of new capital and revamp projects.
